When I was growing up, Cuss Words were not used in polite society.  While I understand that using Cuss Words is an accepted practice today, I still find it offensive.  In IOS, using the dictation feature, apple has made the use of Cuss Words, i.e. explicit language, the default.  The steps below will change the default to Don’t Allow Explicit Language.  So if you want to make sure your dictation does not include explicit language in error, consider changing your default settings by following the steps below:

Explicit Language – How to turn off in iOS 14.4 Future releases may be slightly different

  • Go to settings
  • Go to Screen Time
  • Go to Content & Privacy Restrictions – and yes you must turn this on to proceed
  • Go to content restrictions
  • Go toExplicit Language
  • set to don’t allow

I guess Apple does not think that very many people will use this option, so they make it very convoluted!
